Activity year 2008
In 2008, the International Knightly Order of St. George in Poland completed
the following undertakings within the Order's statutory tasks:
The following were sponsored:
1. 50th Anniversary of Primary School No. 35 in £ód¼.
2. Ceremonial giving the name of the "£ód¼" Army to Primary School No. 26 in £ód¼.
Suppont program for the needy was continued in co-operation with educational
establishments, under which the following were completed:
1. Meetings of Members of the Order with parents, pupils and teachers, concerning
dependencies.
2. Co-operation with the Food Bank in £ód¼ was continued, more than 50 ton food
was distributed in 10 schools in £ód¼.
3. Meetings with doctors were arranged in schools, who offered consultation on faulty posture,
healthy nutrition, oncological threats, laryngological diseases, first aid, etc.
4. Meetings with lawyers were arranged in schools, who offered legal consultation.
5. During the City of £ód¼ Celebration Days, medical consultations were provided to dwellers
of the city and region of £ód¼, concerning endocrinology, rheumatology, neurology,
including free arterial blood pressure and pulse measurements.
6. During the City of £ód¼ Celebration Days, meetings with layers were arranged where dwellers
of the city and region of £ód¼ were offered legal consultations concerning e.g. civil, family,
inheritance, tax, administration, copyright and commercial law.
7. Members of the Order met with children from orphanages and kindergartens.
Our Society was organizer or co-organizer of the following undertakings:
1. During school holidays, holiday play schemes were organized jointly with the Municipal
Police in £ód¼, for four groups including total of about 130 children from £ód¼. Nursing care
was provided to the participating children.
2. Society Members offered help to Junior High School for the Deaf established by Caritas.
3. Meetings with disabled persons at the Community Centre in ul. Siedlecka, £ód¼.
4. Support for the organization of the nominal race of Municipal Police representatives
to the Jasna Góra Monastery on the occasion of Mother's Day.
5. Second-hand school furniture was obtained from Sweden, for distribution among schools
in the region.
6. IT equipment was obtained for schools.
7. Personal hygiene and dressing materials were obtained for the single mothers and children
home in £ód¼.
In 2008, the International Knightly Order of St. George in Poland provided
financial support to the following organizations and institutions:
1. The Society "Rado¶ę æycia" in £ód¼ - co-financing of an educational project.
2. Primary School No. 35 in £ód¼ - co-financing of a winter holiday play scheme.
3. Song and Dance Group "Pździwiatry" at Primary School No. 34 in £ód¼ - financial support.
4. Primary School No. 14 in £ód¼ - co-financing of children's travel to the World Finals
of the International Educational Program "Odyssey of the Mind" in the USA.
5. Primary School No. 5 in £ód¼ - co-financing of the 3rd International Olympic Games
of Partner Schools 2008.
6. Waldi's Foundation "Serce na d³oni" - co-financing of the "Julianów Park" event.
7. Special Schools Complex No. 2 in £ód¼ - funding of prizes for winners in the "I Can Do It"
Contest.
8. Society for the Support of Disabled Persons and Their Families "Muminki" - co-financing
of holiday play schemes for disabled children.
9. Primary School No. 35 in £ód¼ - co-financing of Knightly Days organized by the school
and Parents' Council.
10. Polish Society for Rehabilitation, Branch in Kutno - financial support.
11. Municipal Police in £ód¼ - financial support for the organization of the 1st Pilgrim's Race
to the Jasna Góra Monastery on the occasion of Mother's Day.
12. Summer holiday play scheme organized at Primary School No. 33 in £ód¼:
- cofinancing of catering for four groups including almost 130 children;
- purchase of medical aid provisions;
- purchase of prizes for participating children;
- financing of the admission of children at a swimming pool, indoor climbing centre,
Dinopark in Ko³acinek, and Experymentarium at Manufaktura in £ód¼;
- financing of other attractions for the children.
13. Primary School No. 34 in £ód¼ - financial support for the Parents' Board.
14. The B.S. Linde Secondary Grammar School No. 3 in Toruń - financial support
for celebrations of the school's 60th Anniversary.
15. Canteen for the poor in £agiewniki - co-financing.
16. Primary School No. 91 in £ód¼ - co-financing of lunches for the needy pupils.
17. Primary School No. 61 in £ód¼-£agiewniki - support for the school repairs.
18. Orphanage in Grotniki - support for construction of a local sewage system.
19. Foundation for Children "Help on Time" - financial support.
20. Seniors from the parish of Wadlewo - co-financing of an excursion for the needy.
21. The Roman-Catholid Parish under the invocation of the Ascension of Our Lord in Bydgoszcz
- co-financing of meals for needy children.
22. Association for Care of Blind People in Laski near Warsaw - financial support.
23. The Polish Red Cross - financial support.
24. The "Gajusz" Foundation - financial support.
25. The Foundation "Ochrona æycia poczźtego" - financial support.
26. Secondary School of Economics in £ód¼ - donation of clothes, aprons and protective
shoe covers.
27. The Society of the Friends of Children £ód¼-Ba³uty - donation of clothes.
28. Single Mothers and Children's Home at the Franciscan Sisters Convent in £ód¼ - donation
of clothes.
Second-hand school furniture obtained from Sweden were given to the Gmina
Gorzkowice, province of Piotrków. The community suffered severely during
the tornado in April 2008.
Before Christmas, our Society organized a Christmas celebration meeting
for poorest children from 16 primary schools in £ód¼. Children saw a show by the
Song and Dance Group "Pździwiatry", and received parcels with sweets from Santa
Claus. About 320 children took part in the Christmas meeting.
Additionally, Members of the International Knightly Order of St. George in Poland
offer personal support to organizations, institutions and individual persons
at their place of residence, offering food, clothes and financial support.
